MINORS Bingo-Ban Bonkers?
Update 26th Oct 2009: Despite claimed ascertions (or guesses) being made, CIU HQ, via the Gen Sec no less, has spelled out that MINORS MAY NOT participate/play BINGO in our Clubs. Persosn should refer to the recent Club Journal if in any doubt of true facts! Allowing minors to play cash-prize Bingo would be a very serious breach of the Law, passed by the present Government; and leaves Club's wide open. Members are therefore re-advised of their responsibility to look after their own charges.
The Govt has now decreed that Minors MAY NOT Play Bingo. Groby Asks WHY, rather than always says no! Matter has been drawn to the Local MP's attention for comment.
12th Mar, 2009 - Still No More News from Westminster sadly.
23rd Feb, 2009 - No More News from Westminster sadly. However, probing questions have resluted in clear answers that 'The Gambling Commission has Banned Minors' - chronic contradictions exist - and Licensing Authorities cannot allow Clubs to let Minors participate. If you feel strongly on this issue, write to your own MP

29th Jan, 2009: Local MP, The Rt.Hon Stephen Dorrell has taken up the issue with the relevant Govt. Minister - and we await feedback.
January 16, 2009 - Planet Zog! The Committee at Groby Club had the inneviable task of informing and disappointing Family Members and their proginy that: "MINORS are now banned from Playing Bingo" by Law. The Law is covered by the New Gaming Act and gives Clubs no choice. Worse:if a Club's Prize Monies exceed £2,000, MINORS cannot be in the same room!
This is what a ten-year-old says: is she wrong?
Footnote: The CIU is currently seeking redress from Parliament and confirmation the Country is not, as she puts it, being run "by a Big Jessie"? We hope!
